An Epic Journey Begins: The Banner Saga Now Available For iPhone, iPad And iPod Touch

Stoic’s Award Winning Viking Saga Launches Today on the App Store

Stoic, an independent game development company and Versus Evil, an indie game publisher, today announced that the epic Viking RPG strategy game, The Banner Saga,BU complete card - 2014 - final is now available on the App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The Banner Saga takes advantage of touch control capabilities of mobile devices to build an unforgettable touch screen journey.

The game, which received rave reviews and launched to much critical acclaim on PC earlier this year, has received several awards and nominations, including winner of the 2014 Geekie Awards for Best Video Game, finalist for Excellence in Visual Arts and two honorable mentions for Excellence in Design and Excellence in Audio at the 2014 Independent Game Festival.

“Since our earliest prototype, we designed The Banner Saga from the ground up with tablet and mobile devices in mind,” said John Watson, Technical Director at Stoic. “With its epic storyline, touch screen turn based strategic combat and hand painted landscapes that harken back to the golden age of animation, we are excited to now bring The Banner Saga to a whole new community of players.”

The Banner Saga is a single player driven Viking saga, where a player’s choice in travel, conversation and combat determines the outcome of their own personal story as well as the survival of an entire civilization. The game also features stunning 2D animation and art, a unique tactical combat system and a cast of unforgettable characters, all of which drive this epic journey forward. Players will enjoy a beautiful and haunting original score by Grammy nominated, and two-time BAFTA winner, composer Austin Wintory conducting The Dallas Winds orchestra, as well as a powerhouse trio of acclaimed YouTube sensations: Peter Hollens, Malukah and Taylor Davis.

“We couldn’t be more excited about launching The Banner Saga on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch,” said Steve Escalante, General Manager of Versus Evil. “What the Stoic guys have done is taken this beautifully crafted PC game and tuned it for mobile so that tilting the device allows you to get the parallax effect, zoom in and out of travel sequences and even get up close to the action during battle. It’s the same game that everyone loves, but tweaked for a deep mobile experience.”

Localized in French, German, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish languages, The Banner Saga was one of the earlier funding successes on Kickstarter, which launched in partnership with independent games publisher Versus Evil in January of this year for PC and Mac to global critical acclaim.

The Banner Saga is available for $9.99, £6.99 and €8.99 on the App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch or at AppStore.com.
